The Woodhall Spa Croquet Club managed the annual Golf Croquet doubles competition at Lincoln Castle recently that involved local clubs from the East Midlands region. Known as the Lincoln Cup, the competition takes the form of a pro-am and encourages new members of clubs to participate and learn from each other.
With three blocks of 7 pairs, everyone had the opportunity to play 6 games to their best ability. In the event, there were 6 teams who won 5/6 games and their positions had to be further refined by who beat whom and the quality of their wins.
In the final there were 2 players from Woodhall Spa, 2 from Bakewell and 4 from Southwell. Mick and Gill from Southwell won the final contest 7:4 and everyone went home having spent a glorious day in delightful surroundings.
The following day, the public who visited the Castle were invited to have a go and learn more about the game.
